Twilight Saga: Eclipse, The  (2010)
Drama  Rated: PG-13
The big tease continues in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, the third film in a franchise that has become its own genre. Forget romantic thriller; this is an abstinence thriller. Eclipse is as overwrought and full of sexual hysteria as New Moon and the first film. The will-they-or-won't-they suspense still hangs heavily over the movie, especially in a touch-and-go bedroom scene. "Stop trying to take your clothes off," prim vampire Edward (Robert Pattinson) tells mopey human Bella (Kristen Stewart). When Bella isn't trying to convince Edward to deflower (and dehuman) her, she's dangling herself in front of werewolf and secondary love interest Jacob (Taylor Lautner). As Jacob insists Bella loves him, she denies it while burying herself in his burly arms. Meanwhile, Edward repeatedly proposes marriage. What's an annoying, indecisive, manipulative girl to do? Stewart's Bella is a maddeningly passive aggressive Goth diva. By the end of Eclipse, you find yourself wishing Ed and Jake would each find new girlfriends, go on a double date and leave Bella at home with her dopey dad.
