The Lost World: Jurassic Park

While doing press for The Lost World: Jurassic Park, director Steven Spielberg said he decided to make this sequel because he was frustrated by the mess others had made of the follow-up films to his own Jaws. Apparently he wanted to make a crappy sequel of his own. Narratively inept, unconvincingly edited and nearly deficient of suspense, The Lost World is so incompetent that at times you wonder if Spielberg had handed the camera to the first crew member who walked by. If Jurassic Park was mostly a series of well-staged action sequences strapped to a familiar Spielberg plot, this is on auto-pilot to such a degree that not even the action comes off well. Ever wonder why Spielberg felt Michael Bay was a good choice for the Transformers films? Look here.
